THINGS PEOPLE WANTED
A selection of personal projects, commissioned work, and just-for-fun experiments—each designed with heart, humor, and hands-on problem solving.
Kaylee Hintz-Horan Personal Training Stickers
Kaylee, a personal trainer at the Armbrust YMCA, asked me to create a brand identity for her training business—including a logo and a series of custom illustration stickers to give to her clients.
During our collaboration, she shared her love for vintage pin-up art, tattoos, skulls, and strength-training gear like kettlebells. She also had a strong visual preference for pastel blues, cool grays, and soft reds.
I designed a set of four illustrations that reflect her bold but playful vibe. Each sticker blends a classic pin-up aesthetic with elements of fitness and empowerment—think flexing poses, stylized skulls, and custom kettlebells. The resulting set helped Kaylee stand out with a visual identity that’s both feminine and fierce.
Robert Gilbert – Personal Training Brand
After completing a branding project for Kaylee, another personal trainer at the YMCA, Robert approached me for his own set of custom materials. He wanted a cohesive identity that included both a business card and a t-shirt to give to clients—something that would stand out and represent his personal training philosophy.
Robert envisioned a bold, masculine brand rooted in strength and resilience, and he asked for an Irish warrior theme to reflect his heritage and personal values. I illustrated a custom logo featuring his likeness, integrated with stylized barbells and a Celtic triquetra symbol to evoke power, tradition, and balance.
The final design is clean and eye-catching, with a strong visual silhouette and deep navy palette geared toward young male clients. Together, the business card and t-shirt create a memorable and professional brand presence that reflects Robert’s unique identity as a trainer.
Amber Cornist Personal Training Stickers
The head personal trainer at the Armbrust YMCA, Amber Cornist, asked for some personalized artwork after viewing the work I had done for two of her staff members. She wanted the stickers to represent her and to show her progress she’s made by living an active lifestyle. Amber loves competitive weightlifting and she has a regional record for Women’s deadlift. She also wanted her stickers to show simplicity and realism.
TR-UCE Whiskey Bottle Label
A family friend asked me to design a label for a novelty whiskey he was producing, called TR-UCE Bourbon Whiskey. The concept was centered around unity and heritage, and he specifically requested that the label feature the historical “Peace and Friendship” coin.
To reflect that theme, I drew inspiration from 1800s Americana, incorporating period-accurate fonts, a two-tone patriotic color scheme, and vintage illustrations of Union and Confederate soldiers shaking hands. The composition is bold and symmetrical, designed to stand out on a shelf while paying homage to historical aesthetics.
The final label was applied to the bottles and used in promotional materials. It was a fun mix of historical research, illustrative design, and brand storytelling—all tailored to a small-batch whiskey with heart and heritage.
Simply Midwest Metals Branding
My sister and her roommates started an Etsy/Instagram shop that features metal accessories. She reached out for their shop’s branding. The girls wanted something minimalistic and something that represented them. Two of the girls are from Nebraska and two of the girls are from Missouri. This design was an easy way to show their background.
2019-2020 Millard West Swimming Men’s Drag Suit
My brother asked me to design the men’s drag suit for the 2019–2020 Millard West swim season. He wanted something fun and silly that would stand out. The final design features bold, jagged graphics incorporating the school mascot and logo, while staying true to the team’s colors: green, white, and black.
Forever Lolo Bags – Branding & Product Photography
My mom asked me to design a logo for her Etsy shop, foreverlolobags. She wanted the branding to reflect her favorite things—birds, sewing, pastel colors, and playful lowercase script. I created a cheerful logo that brought those elements together, and have since expanded the branding with a coordinating business card and product photography for her Etsy listings.
2019 Truman State Men’s Swimming T-Shirt
My coach gave me full creative freedom on this project—the senior year t-shirt design for the Truman State Men’s Swimming Team. I leaned into a retro aesthetic that featured the school mascot, team colors, and bold vintage typography. The result was a unique and spirited design that celebrated our team’s identity and final season together.
2019 ALCOYLMPIC GAMES College T-Shirt
For the 2019 Alcolympic Games—an annual drinking event hosted by several campus sports teams—I designed the official event shirt. The graphic features a bold, medal-inspired beer emblem paired with Olympic-style rings made of kegs and bats, bringing a playful yet competitive edge to the theme.
I created the design to work seamlessly across four team colors (blue, red, gold, and black), with each team sporting a unique name like “Keystonia” and “United Keg Stands of America.” In addition to designing the shirts, I also sourced a vendor that could produce them for under $12 each, balancing cost with quality for a successful large-group order.
